Newsom Launches Website and Billboards to Advertise Abortion Across the Country

Gov. Newsom has employed two new tactics in his war on the unborn: billboards advertising abortion and a new website to help women obtain an abortion.

Last week, Newsom announced the launch of seven pro-abortion billboards, some blasphemously referencing the Bible.

“Just launched billboards in 7 of the most restrictive anti-abortion states that explain how women can access care–no matter where they live. To any woman seeking an abortion in these anti-freedom states: CA will defend your right to make decisions about your own health,” he tweeted.

The billboards advertise the website, abortion.ca.gov, which offers information to women in states where abortion is restricted to help them access the procedure in California. It also instructs out-of-state minors on how to get an abortion in California without their parents’ permission and includes a section informing undocumented immigrants on how they can obtain taxpayer-funded coverage for abortion.

Newsom’s campaign is buying billboards in Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Mississippi, South Dakota, South Carolina, and Oklahoma. They read, “Need an abortion? California is ready to help,” among other pro-choice messages.

But as bad as that is, Newsom actually perverts the words of Jesus on billboards in Mississippi and Oklahoma by quoting Mark 12:31, which reads “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these,” as a deeply perverted justification for helping women obtain abortion.

Some of the billboards show a photo of a woman in handcuffs or a woman looking distressed, insinuating that women are enslaved or not truly free without abortion.

In reality, seeking an abortion is not a sign of freedom, but of desperation. Further, abortion is deeply harmful to women mentally, emotionally, and physically; it is not compassionate or “loving” in any way. Truly helping women experiencing a crisis pregnancy would require helping them out of the situation that has caused them to reach a point of desperation. There is no justification – and certainly not a biblical one – for helping a woman obtain an abortion.

Unfortunately, Newsom has followed through on his promise to make California an abortion sanctuary, and his efforts have become more and more shameful. It’s up to pro-lifers to combat his malignant tactics by equipping themselves with the truth.

Thankfully, the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) is helping pro-lifers do just that with a new point-by-point fact sheet. This fact sheet refutes many of the lies that Newsom and his colleagues continue to spread about abortion and the impact the overturning of Roe v. Wade has had on women. Reading this document is an excellent way for pro-lifers to learn how to respond to misinformation, which could spare women from the trauma of abortion.

Women deserve better than Newsom’s deplorable efforts to persuade them to make a harmful, life-altering decision. They deserve the truth and real choices that don’t involve ending the life of their own child.
