Apparently the atmosphere within the company culture at Twitter is pretty polarizing for anyone who is not a liberal. This bit of information comes from Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. In an interview with the tech news website Recode.net, Dorsey admitted to the left-leaning company culture at Twitter.
“We have a lot of conservative-leaning folks in the company as well, and to be honest, they don’t feel safe to express their opinions at the company.”
“They do feel silenced by just the general swirl of what they perceive to be the broader percentage of leanings within the company,” Dorsey said, “and I don’t think that’s fair or right.”
“I think it’s more and more important to at least clarify what our own bias leans towards, and just express it,” Dorsey said. “I’d rather know what someone biases to rather than try to interpret through their actions.”
Ironically, Dorsey has previously admitted to Twitter’s left leaning company culture in an interview with CNN, however, he has argued that the left-leaning opinions of the majority of Twitter’s employees does not drive Twitter policy.
“We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is … is more left-leaning,” he stated. “But the real question behind the question is, are we doing something according to political ideology or viewpoints? And we are not. Period.”
Dorsey’s comments are troubling as they come at a time when Twitter has demonstrated its incredible bias and continued censorship of conservative content. Twitter has a very strong track record of censoring conservative content. Recently, the company has come under fire for blocking the pro life group Live Action from advertising videos with ultrasound videos of reborn babies.
Last year, Twitter blocked Live Action’s pro-life ads, deeming them “inflammatory” and “offensive.”
Dorsey also stated during a recent Senate hearing that the company plans to promote left-leaning journalists.
