Four Reasons Why Women Shouldn’t Trust Planned Parenthood

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

One of Planned Parenthood’s favorite claims is that if it stops receiving federal taxpayer dollars women will no longer be able to access the healthcare that they deserve. The abortions giant then turns to fear-mongering by pushing the idea that women will have to rely on back alley, coat-hanger-style abortions. This is not true, and in fact (as of data from 2015) there are at least 20 comprehensive care health clinics that women could visit for every 1 Planned Parenthood.

Here are four reasons women shouldn’t trust Planned Parenthood.

      1. Planned Parenthood teaches women to believe that abortion is safe.

Planned Parenthood refers to abortion on its website as a “safe, simple medical procedure,” and this is what they want you to believe. The reality is that there is no such thing as a safe abortion. An abortion is hardly safe for a mother, both in terms of medical safety, and mental trauma undergone. And abortion is certainly never safe for the baby being aborted.

      2. Planned Parenthood pushes women in vulnerable situations to have an abortion.

Planned Parenthood’s own website provides case in point proof of this fact. In describing abortion procedures, Planned Parenthood sums up its answer to the question “How can I get an-clinic abortion,” with “it’s best to try to have your abortion as soon as possible.”

      3. Planned Parenthood uses medically inaccurate terms in an intentional effort to mislead women.

In describing the abortions it does “in house,” Planned Parenthood refers to a Dilation & Evacuation (D & E) abortion procedure as using “suction and medical tools to empty your uterus.” It refers to a suction abortion as “a gentle suction that empties your uterus.” Both of these statements are medically inaccurate and misleading. Even its descriptions of how the abortion pill works are misleading and medically inaccurate. For a more analysis, read this article I wrote for Live Action News detailing this intentional falsification of information by Planned Parenthood.

      4. Planned Parenthood endangers women by fighting against abortion regulations and routine inspections.

The latest example of Planned Parenthood not caring about women entails Planned Parenthood complaining about the cost of hiring more on call doctors with admitting privileges in the event of a medical emergency. Planned Parenthood spokespersons have time and time again protested against similar safety measures. In this case, a Planned Parenthood spokesperson for a clinic fighting against a law to mandate an emergency on call OB/GYN said doing so would place a “burden” on women seeking abortions. Given that the average annual cost to have an OB/GYN be on-call 24/7 is $182,500 it, seems that Planned Parenthood is more concerned with the financial “burden” such a requirement would cost them, than women’s safety.
