SCOTUS Takes HUGE Pro-Life Case

The U.S. Supreme Court announced today that it will hear a pro-life case when the new court term begins in October. What does that mean for the country?

Potentially, a lot of conflict.

The Mississippi case that will come before the Court is likely to challenge precedent found in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Translation: the abortion industry could be in big, big trouble – and they know it.

The conversation around “court packing” – adding more justices to the U.S. Supreme Court – was kicked around as a way to counter to President Trump’s three SCOTUS appointees. After a lull in the action, that conversation is about to reignite.

Here’s the bottom line: abortion advocates know they cannot lose this case and they know the current court is unlikely to keep bad precedent going on the issue of life. Court packing might be the only chance liberals in America actually have to preserve abortion nationwide.

The Mississippi law in question enacted a ban on abortions after 15 weeks before being struck down by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. But now that SCOTUS has taken the appeal, the law has a chance to stand permanently.

If the Court sides with Mississippi and establishes that states do have the authority to act in the interest of pre-born children, it changes the game. New precedent will open the door for other states to enact similar measures and thousands of children could finally be protected.

The Court has an enormous responsibility in this case. The nine justices will have an opportunity to right the poor judicial activism undertaken in both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

What does this mean for California? For one, it means lawmakers will no longer be able to hide behind Roe or other court cases as justification for supporting abortion in policy. Elected officials would finally be forced to make a choice on the merits: will the Golden State protect life, or allow the death penalty for kids who’s only crime is being unwanted?

Pray that the U.S. Supreme Court comes down on both the right side of history and the right side of God’s justice. The best-case scenario is that this reopens the door to a discussion of morals and philosophy on the issue of abortion, a discussion unclouded by the past judgement of activist courts. Society can finally have the conversation about abortion as they did on slavery, and decide whether it’s better to take the easy path, or the righteous path.

CFC supports the Biblical path — one that leads to life.

Please join us in praying for those in positions of power who will have to hold back the tide of pressure to allow court packing. It’s about to get loud.
