Over the weekend, on an interview with CBS’s 60 seconds, Donald Trump again restated his noteworthy promise to appoint pro-life justices to the Supreme Court. The first time Trump brought up the Supreme Court justices and promised to appoint justices who would protect the sanctity of the preborn was in June.

“I will protect it and the biggest way to protect it is through the Supreme Court and putting people in the court — and actually the biggest way to protect is electing me as president,” he said, according to LifeNews.

In September, Trump released a list of potential Supreme Court justices that he would consider for nomination for filling seats like the late Justice Antonin Scalia. The Trump campaign promised that the list is definitive and that Trump would only choose from it in picking future Justices of the United States Supreme Court. The Federalist Society, The Heritage Foundation and other organizations and pro-life individuals helped in composing the list.

In an interview with David Brody of CBN, Trump made the specific promise that he would defund Planned Parenthood if elected President. During the interview Trump said that as long as Planned Parenthood was performing abortions, they should not receive government funding.

According to OpenSecrets.org, during the 2016 election cycle, Planned Parenthood and its affiliates spent nearly millions of dollars on funding the Democratic party alone, yet despite their massive spending efforts they were unsuccessful in convincing Americans to support the extreme pro-abortion policies of Hillary Clinton and others.

Planned Parenthood understood how much was at stake with the election. It’s their enormous profits vs. human life. The President of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards – whose salary recently reached $1 million annually – recently reacted on MSNBC to Trump’s election, saying:

I think that Roe vs. Wade was on the ballot in this election. I know that Mr. Trump has said that in his acceptance speech that he was going to govern for all Americans.

If he is going to govern and represent all Americans this is a right, the right to safe and legal abortion is a right women have had in this country for more than 40 years and it is supported by people of all parties, so it is important and we will absolutely be fighting for a justice of the Supreme Court who supports this right for women.

It’s tragic how disposable life has become in the forty years since Roe v. Wade, but encouraging that for the first time ever Americans have selected as president a candidate who has promised to defund Planned Parenthood and uphold pro-life laws like the Hyde Amendment.

I am more confident than ever that we will see abortion abolished in our lifetime.
